I stumbled upon a property-trading game called Upland. There is an app and a website. The selling point of this game is that allows you to buy, sell and trade digital properties based on real-world addresses. The in-game currency is UPX, which is a cryptocurrency.

Everyone starts the game as a visitor until a threshold of UPX is reached, in which case people graduate to an "Uplander." I assume more rights are conferred to Uplanders.

I used some of the default UPX in my account to purchase my first property in Oakland, CA of all places. It was either Oakland or Brooklyn because San Francisco is apparently already sold out. Once you buy a property, you can collect UPX every three hours. There are also challenges that award additional UPX. Finally, for people who don't have the patience, you can buy UPX with cold hard cash.

This is just the kind of game that fits with my personality. I've played similar games without any connection to the real world or cryptocurrency. The prospect that some of these game assets could potentially become valuable in fiat currency is interesting. Then again, it may all blow up. Either way, it's worth a try for free.
