Now he had a method, 6 min timer then he’d check. The water was always salted and he kept some pasta water on the side. This helped mix things.
The sauce he was making was out of passata he heated in a pan next to the spaghetti. He had a close of garlic in it.
If you cook with garlic you can’t use onion and vice versa his friend told him. He didn’t like that because he’d do it all the time at the diner and it tastes great. But I guess for some dishes it’s true.
The timer went off. And he tried a pasta. Not there yet, another minute or so.
After the timer went off again, he transferred the pasta to the frying pan full of sauce. He used tongs. Letting some pasta water transfer over.
He mixed and added cheese.
