His therapist was a black woman, whenever he mentioned therapy he always had to say that.
"I'm not religious, but she is, and so we uh can't talk about faith. That was like one of her first rules."
He never told Dave about this, but some of the wait staff would always be outside to smoke.
He'd vape, but in more of a pretend way, take a few shallow inhales just to look the part.

Debbie one of the waitresses was also in therapy. She had had at least according to herself a bad year.
"Just a lot of things changed suddenly and I didn't really know who I was." She said.
She smoked Virginia slims, used to like Marlboro Reds, but stopped after she stopped seeing her last boyfriend.
"The smell reminded me of him." She said.
They'd sit there a top of milk crates when it was slow maybe thirty minutes, when it was packed like 2 or 3 puffs.
The weather didn't matter, rain or shine they'd be out there talking.
"So, do you really like being alone?" She said again. After awhile he was talking about nothing in particular.
"Uh I uh don't know."
