Staycation remix

Since COVID, I don't go out much. It is maybe groceries or doctor's appointment that gets me our of the house. Many doctors are also doing telehealth so even that is rare. After over a year of this house arrest, I felt like having a change of scenery.

There isn't a lot of options out there that doesn't also look like  a suicide mission. I thought about what I could do that was also safe. I have gotten my vaccine shot so I wasn't very worried about me but I still wanted to be cautious.

After a lot of deliberations, I decided to go to a hotel in my city for a few days. I got a great deal on a luxury hotel and got a fantastic room on a top floor with a great view. I packed lightly since I didn't plan to go out much... just walks towards the evening. It was a nice getaway. I managed to sit with myself and do some introspection and writing. For some reason, the bed and pillows in hotels are great. And my sleep reaped the benefits.

I came to the hotel with my own food so no money wasted there. And I kept to my unique diet so my health stayed consistent.

The things I didn't enjoy - the tv didn't offer many options. I think the hotels want us to buy the on-demand options. I can't remember a movie I wanted to pay money for that bad. The other option was netflix but the internet was not great either. So I ended up reading a lot, resting and walking. A nice staycation.
A staycation is a fabulous idea. My wife and I had a staycation in Melbourne a few years back and discovered some much new stuff. It was great.
Enjoy.

I have kept a hotel room in every town I’ve ever lived in. I rent a hotel room for a few months, leave my home at six, and try to be at work by six-thirty. To write, I lie across the bed, so that this elbow is absolutely encrusted at the end, just so rough with callouses. I never allow the hotel people to change the bed, because I never sleep there. I stay until twelve-thirty or one-thirty in the afternoon, and then I go home and try to breathe; I look at the work around five; I have an orderly dinner—proper, quiet, lovely dinner; and then I go back to work the next morning.

 - A vacation doesn't have to involve a flight or a long drive. Just relaxing in whichever way possible should work.

I had no idea about Maya Angelou's method....it makes so much sense. It is like how I used to be so much more productive at WeWork rather than my own home. But that was mostly because of the hustle you can sense in the air. For relaxation and creativity, a hotel room rental makes so much sense.
