Zoom, Zoom Zoom

It's the second Wednesday of the month, and so this evening is the Zoom Zoom club committee meeting. The club doesn't run itself, and it takes a dedicated group of twelve people to organise events for over nine hundred members across two states.

Pre-COVID, we would meet for pizza before our meeting and then huddle around a table at the Albert Sailing Club. It was nice to catch up with fellow club members and chew the fat before transacting the business of the meeting.

When we went into lockdown due to COVID-19, we started to Zoom our committee meetings. The first Zoom meeting was a little chaotic, as everyone settled into using the remote technology. Poor quality microphones and people talking while on mute was commonplace.

Twelve months on, and we are all seasoned professionals with the remote technology, and the meetings are running smoothly. The meetings are so smooth, we are getting through the business in half the time. And, I don't miss those cold winter nights at Albert Park Lake when I would have to get in the car after 10.30 pm to drive 45 minutes to get home.

I guess you could say we have learned to Zoom our Zoom Zoom, and it looks like it is here to stay.
