Other Meant

During his thinking about clothes, but before his coffee was over he saw again the familiar headlights from a car pulling into the tea shops parking lot.

This time it felt different. The car was moving fast. And it reminded him of how his older sister used to drive. Always too fast late for something. The door burst open and there he was. Ryan, a relic of his old life in space but he looked different. Had a hat with straight brim and gold chains. Funny that he picked this place.

He gave him a sort of sup nod but went straight for the owner.

“Wassssupppp”

The owner said.

“The usual.”

“You know it.”

They sort of embraced with a half hug half handshake, dap.

Then he walked over to him. Almost like he was showing him how to greet people on earth for the first time.

“Was sup my dude.”

“Hello.”

“Doesn’t this guy have the sickest oolong. Shits fire.”

“Yeah yeah.”

“What’s that, like pu’er or what?”

“No just coffee.”

“Bro you love coffee you always drinking that shit.”

Before he could say anything Pete’s eyes got wide. Then Ryan changed midway through the sentence.

“Shit.” They looked at each other because they knew what the other meant.
