Lighting ilke a Lab Spacecity

as reply to His Phones

Spacecity had doctors. They probably could support a childbirth, but they didn't want to deal with the contracts. The mother would after all be still up in space for work and couldn't just leave. Or couldn't just take care of the baby up in the space station.

So far there had been no babies born up there. It was a cold, sterile feeling place. Maybe they kept it that way so people would feel less inclined to get together.

There was no mood lighting up there. The lights made you feel like you were in a laboratory or a kitchen. pete thought about how restaurants worked. The kitchens had to be brightly lit so that you could spot hair and really examine how the food looked. Out in the dining area you wanted the light soft so that people cozied up to one another and felt comfortable in their own skin.

Even though they had those harsh lights up there you got used to them. Got used to seeing people's imperfections all the time. It made you feel okay with yours in a way. That's one of the things Pete missed about
