Back to the office

My primary client is based in San Jose, California. I have not been on site since March of 2020. Most of the employees whose jobs are not essential in the office have also been working remotely as well.

This month, the client is starting a pilot program for fully vaccinated volunteers to return part-time to the office. They have 21 volunteers, and someone in the meeting referred to them as the "twenty-one pilots," which made me chuckle. In the all-staff meeting today, the CEO commented that the employee survey results from last year are completely opposite from the most recent results. When people were forced to work from home last year, many people were up-in-arms about it. It was hastily done, and there were many technical challenges that had to be overcome.

What a difference a year makes. Now, an overwhelming number of people have gotten used to working from home and are up-in-arms about returning to the office.

Thankfully, consultants will remain 100% remote for the foreseeable future. I'm not necessarily keen on traveling again, especially for work. The main reason is the drain on my personal time. At least my second client offers 100% remote work, so there is no impending doom of future travel for them.
Oh that is great Brandon. Not just for your personal time but also health (diet and sleep). It can't be easy on you traveling so much. I hope working remotely really becomes a permanent thing.
