Next steps

Last month, I searched for a functional medicine doctor and found one close by.

The whole experience was different. The initial consultation that was a whole lot of questions and discussions lasted about an hour or so. But I was told upfront that insurance wouldn't cover the visit so I had to pay out of pocket.

I was eager to do some bloodwork that none of the several specialists were willing to do. So for that alone, the adventure was worth it. I got the list of things I wanted checked and left.

I got the blood work done this past week. And I got to see the results on Labcorp.com. It was a mixed bag with both good and bad things. I was aware of most of the bad and it convinced me that I did the right thing by going for a functional medicine.

Now that I have the results, I am trying to think of what to do next. I think I may need more blood work or see a specialist that can make sense of all the different things that I have been going through. If only the doctor from the show HOUSE MD was a real thing, I would sign up.

The body is a complex thing and when something is off, there are many indicators. The problem is when the people who are supposed to look for and understand these hints misbehave.

I'm very happy to hear that you found a functional medicine doctor. Are you going to have a follow-up visit to discuss the lab results?

Yes I intend to do a follow up with a doctor but I wasn't too impressed with the first functional medicine doctor I saw. I am looking for a new one and in the interim going to see my GP to discuss if there is anything urgent I need to take care of.
