After 36 years of administering a health plan, my client has finally hired someone to fill the permanent role of Configuration Manager. Some could argue that a Configuration Manager wasn't needed until 2014 when the plan implemented a new claims system that required in-house maintenance. I have been in this role as a consultant for the last two years and prior to that, there was no manager of the team.
"The guy" goes by DJ. I almost made the joke in our team meeting today that he would be referred to as DJ Jazzy Jeff, which by extension would make me the Fresh Prince. I didn't bring this up lest I be accused of cultural appropriation.
DJ's background and experience are eerily similar to my own. He's been a consultant who previously worked for the company I work for. He's also had previous management and training roles. He knows SQL. He is coming from the vendor for the system, and he may know it even better than I do, and I've been working on it for over fifteen years.
Since I'll be sticking around for a while and assisting with the transition, I prefer to use the term "two-headed monster." It's always great to have someone to go toe-to-toe with.
