Liver

After reading a few of Brandon's post about the latest book he is reading, I started to study my blood work for the last few months. I focused on the liver and looked for patterns.

It seems very little at first but I did notice that the numbers were going up. Now that I know how the lab creates the normal range, I am not happy about the pattern I saw. It doesn't matter that I am in the normal range if it looks like my liver is getting increasingly stressed.

At this time, I am working on identifying they why but with the number of health issues I am treating right now, it is not easy. I did change my diet dramatically but I still want to know if I can do more. So I set up an appointment with my primary doctor and asked her about it.

From all the doctors I see, my primary doctor is relatively better in how she sees the whole picture. So I wanted to know if I should do anything to prevent any more damage to my liver. Her response was disappointing but not surprising. She explained that unless the numbers were 3 times the normal range, they wouldn't panic or treat it. And here I am coming to see her because of a pattern I saw in my numbers. She didn't want to speculate or even recommend anything I should do at this point. I am certain she saw me as a hypochondriac.

What a world we live in. The doctors refuse to do a comprehensive blood work. They wait for things to get to a bad state before they address it. When they do address it, they want to give you a drug that has side effects.

Well, I am not going to wait. I have purchased the book Brandon wrote about and I will biohack myself to a better liver.
Sadly, your experience is all too common. I'm glad you are taking matters into your own hands. I think you will find the book eye-opening.

Thank you. I am reading a book at the moment, your book is next. My sister was telling me about a book called Salt fix too. Especially since the doctors told me to be on a low-sodium diet. Apparently that is a bad advice just like low fat was.

We should just go and get a medical degree and if we are going to have to figure out everything ourselves.

My N=1 experiment with salt was eye-opening. While I was in my strict keto phase, I was supplementing with 2g of sodium per day, and I completely eliminated my blood pressure pill as it normalized. I'm not interested in going to school to learn from so-called experts with decades-old knowledge. I'm going to stay on the cutting edge.

Yeah I hear you. I don't know enough about salt but I felt better when I stopped removing it from my diet completely. The human body has a nice way of communicating what works.
