All over bar the shouting

It's all over bar the shouting for my team this year. After leading most of the game today, the Richmond Tigers capitulated in the final quarter to be beaten by the Collingwood Magpies by sixteen points.

After suffering their fourth consecutive loss, Richmond now sits in twelfth place on the ladder, two wins out of the top eight teams who will play in the finals. With six games to go in the season, they will need to win most of those games to have any chance of making the finals.

With eight of the premiership team from last year being sidelined by injury, Richmond has not selected their best team for many weeks. Though they have good players to replace them, the balance of the team has been impacted, and they don't seem to be able to hold up their system of play like they did last year.

Though I am disappointed at yet another loss, I can be comforted with their success in the past four years. You can't complain when your team has been premiers in three of the past four years.

There won't be any fairytale end to this year for my team. Instead, they need to shift their focus beyond 2021 and see if they can get back to the top next year.

I'm trying to find an equivalent expression used in the US. "All over but the yelling" perhaps?
