In 2014 Virgin Galactic tragically lost a test pilot to a crash and continued to be “[plagued with] technical problems”.
It wouldn’t be until 5 years later that Virgin would be able to achieve its second successful test flight, but even then the ambitious spaceline was still experiencing major structural integrity issues that would go on to set the project back yet again.
Just as recently as this May, the spaceline experienced a new glitch that , much to shareholders’ and the public’s dismay, delayed the project once again.
Today’s historic launch of Virgin Galactic’s Unity 22 is not only a major milestone for humanity, but also the culmination of well over a decade of hard work filled with set back and after set back.
The journey leading up to Unity 22’s flight is a lesson not just on the importance of ambition, but also on the importance of perseverance and resilience.
It’s a reminder that it’s not a question of if things go wrong, it’s a question of when.
And when set backs do inevitably arrive do arrive, it’s a reminder that great things can happen when you heed this sage advice: keep pushing forward.
