Wired to share

A friend got his August pay today, and some bonus. He was eager to tell me. He was excited giving me the news of his bonus.

He was relaying the news over WhatsApp chat and you could tell how excited he was.

That reminded me of the fact people need someone to talk too even in joyous moments. And inability to find someone in that moment could lead to loneliness.

Pause and think about that for a moment.

People in joyous moments. Loneliness.

That aspect of loneliness never ceases to amuse me.

Why on earth would anyone be feeling lonely because they couldn’t find someone to tell their good news?

I mean something great just happened in your life and you’re trying to be sad. Are you okay?!?

Well, that’s how we are wired.

To share.

Grief or joy. We must share it.

That’s why we talk to pets. Even pet rats.

We are wired to share.
Mmmm yes. I do believe that being lonely with nobody to share good news with is more painful -- in some unique manner -- than being lonely during bad-news.
