I grew up in a small town where rumor has it many still don't lock their doors at night. Such a place offers little opportunity to someone like myself. But in the city, there's always somebody who needs something done in the shadow of time. Something important that can't be fucked up. Nothing you can pat someone on the shoulder and tell them "you'll get it next time" if they mess up.
Without fail, I will wake up right around 3 AM. It doesn't matter how sleep deprived I am or any other variable imaginable. 3 AM arrives and I'm up. This makes me a valuable asset for those with deep pockets, who need people to disappear into the shadows. If you're wondering why planned murders always take place at night, it's not because there's less of a chance of getting caught. It has nothing to do with the murderer themselves, but more about the mark.
Have you ever heard of the investor ? There's a story of how whenever he's about to enter a big negotiation, he would always schedule it late in the evening. So late in the evening that the other side of the table thinks they don't have to take the day off. Then that side would show up to the negotiation exhausted. On the other side, Carl would clear his schedule and sleep in on purpose that day. Show up clear headed and well rested with good food in his belly.
You see what I mean? You show up to to the Mark as he's either bleary eyed with sleep or in a drunken stupor and it just lends itself to a much cleaner job. And seeing how I'm wide awake anyhow around 3, I'm a good fit for this job. I mean there's other things too, like I don't have moral qualms with what I do, but I think my biggest advantage is that I am wide awake when the night is thick.
