When We Were Young - Part 4

The first year at the college was tough. The seniors told us that the purpose of the first year is to weed out a lot of the students that would likely not make it the four years. Due to the limited resources, high competition was how people's futures were determined.

I was very hard working and didn't do much in terms of having fun. When it was time to select a major for 2nd year and beyond, I had a tough time. I had always wanted to study law. And the college I went to offered a major in law. Law and economics were the two majors that were the hardest to get into and the most promising as a potential career choice.

After speaking to the family doctor, I decided to not do law. So the default choice became economics. I didn't really know what that subject was about. But after successfully being accepted to the major in the second year, I realized I loved it. There was a lot of psychology in economics and that always made any subject interesting.

It turned out that the brother of my pen pal was the head of the economics department association at the campus. I got a chance to see him in action as he was elected and made a speech to a bunch of econ majors in one hall. As I had suspected, he was the popular guy and knew how to get the attention of the crowd.

Despite being popular, he made time to talk to me on a regular basis. He even gave me his notes from the previous year. Which helped me to cut classes even more aggressively. I was more of a book reading person than learning in classrooms.

Within a couple of months of the second year, I was told that people on campus assumed that I was dating this person. That's the thing about a small college back home. People study your routine and speculate about every gesture, meeting and rumor.

I was and am still a deeply private person. So hearing these rumors disturbed me.

To be continued....

I am having a hard time with part 5.
Some drama occurred that I feel some type of way describing.

That hard time and drama is what leads to usually the best and most meaningful writing -- especially when looked back at in the future.

Let me know if there's anything
seun
and I can do to help you be able to write it.

Yes i volunteered Seun on my own lol.

Lol. I will figure a way to write it. I just told the whole story to my brother and he said it was an interesting drama.
