"Well, you know me."
A phrase used to claim an obtuse outcome, inability to change or consider those around.
I heard this walking along a street today, saw the face of the recipient. They gave the "Ah" head nod that we all use as a silent prayer that the speaker turns to other topics, or just stops talking.
I kept walking, but that sliver of conversation I perked up at gave me a thought that I've never made use of such a phrase. Not to say that I do or don't have any lack of stubbornness or otherwise, but I wonder how often I'd be able to use it accurately, to prompt that those around me know such specific slices of my personality to automatically apply it to a shared situation.
I'm sure they do, but in the moment it made me ponder it.
