Games

There are two types of players. Those who play to win and those who play to keep playing. Each game has it's own set of operating principles comprised of a set of rules, instructions and incentives. This is a general characteristic of games. Depending on the type of game you play, the operating principles are either revealed at the begining or gradually as you play. As a player you must always have in mind the operating principles. If not you must always seek them inside the game. Once you understand how the game works; the goal the obstacles, you can act.

Life is a game to. Unless you overcome you're obstacles you're going to be stuck at the same level, killing chickens over and over again. Einstein said something along the lines, you cannot solve a problem by the same line of reasoning that created it in the first place. It's the same with the game of life. To find the exit to the next level I must do things I never did before, I must completely change the way I operate.
I wondered what plagues so many young people. I'd summarize it as they take themselves too seriously but not the universe serious enough.

I believe that our lives to us is a game. We are better off for treating it as such. Not taking ourselves too seriously. Realizing that our actions will have consequences but also realizing that in the end it doesn't matter.

the key to winning this game is to not let the latter stop you from trying in the former. That's how you actually do things that matter.

The mistake I think most young people do is to not be fully aware of the passage of time. Time is precious and, it is never returned. Once the time's up it is done forever.

I was using the game metaphor to illustrate how we face challenges as humans and how overcoming those challenges open up the world to us in a far greater way than previously.

Example:
An overweight person is determined to loose weight and dreams about running a marathon.
The first day he runs no more than 2km. The day after he does 2.1. He persevere and a mont later he can run 5 and has lost 30kg. He begins to gain confidence and keeps at it. There are many challenges along the way. After a year of training he's taking the start for a 42km run, a marathon and finishes in less than 3 hours. He now feels unstoppable. looking in the mirror he sees someone lean and focused. His world just opened up to new possibilities, he is no longer the person that he used to be. He passed to a new level.
