One thing at a time

The American Psychological Association has a page dedicated to the topic of multitasking
The main takeaway: it’s not the productivity hack that many think it is. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. 

Frequently switching tasks takes time and energy, it makes you more prone to error, and it results in less productivity. 

It’s a lose-lose-lose proposition. 

For most activities, you’re better off committing your undivided attention. 

That means putting the phone away, responding to that new e-mail later, and pausing the podcast in the background. 

This will be a difficult proposition for those who are multitaskers at heart. But if this research is any indication, it may also open your eyes to how much you can accomplish when you commit to doing one thing at a time.
