Airport

the airport beer hit different. it was less of an escape, a promise to the next, as it was a wilting petal finally hitting the floor. Its mellow sweet notes of banana struck him as a sour slap upon his face as she walked away, away and beyond, gone for now and for ever.

the global halfway home took him in same as ever. looking at the departures screen, one destination was glaringly not present from view. he had missed his flight, and ubered there. simultaneously every option from the airport opened themselves to him, and yet he felt to be without a paddle, lilting in the breeze.
