Doctors

I shop for doctors like my life depends on it. And it does. I have hired and fired doctors at an alarming rate. In my humble opinion, there are a lot of very confident yet incompetent doctors out there. I don't discriminate by age, gender or background. With one or two appointments, I can identify if I can work with a doctor or not.

After a particularly bad series of doctors, I started to wonder if I was the problem. I think I could be. But I decided to stick with a doctor I didn't like as long as she left me alone. I needed the doctor for my medications and blood work. That was it. As long as I get that, I can tolerate the 15 minutes I am gifted every 3 months.

But then I was yelled at for not eating right at one appointment. The doctor - that had no people skills whatsoever was almost hysterical about how I was eating. She wouldn't hear about intermittent fasting and said I wasn't eating enough carbs. So I asked her, what she thought was the correct amount of carbs for a diabetic.

45g of carbs for breakfast, 45g of carbs for lunch and 45g of carbs for dinner. That is a total of 135g of carb a day. For a diabetic.

At that point, I was eating maximum of 30g a day. That was the last time I saw the doctor. I didn't even argue with her. It is one thing to be wrong and have a position of being a doctor. It is another to be so loud about it.
