I use the name Keni and Keneni for myself. I used to avoid Keneni just because I get too many questions about how to pronounce it.
I did an experiment of sorts using both versions of my name in a few classes I am taking. Often the class involves a zoom session where people introduce themselves for the first time. We are mostly strangers in the zoom session.
Whenever I use my full name - Keneni, I am usually not called for any question. But when I use Keni, I 100% of time - will be called for one question or another.
Most people prefer to select the name that they can pronounce so they don't make a fool of themselves when calling out the name. This has a very direct impact on many other things where we don't get a chance to speak for ourselves.
I had heard about this before but my zoom experiment just confirmed it for me.
