your future self

The person who procrastinates today is the same person who will eventually need to scramble to finish their work last minute.

The person who has a few too many drinks tonight is the same person who has will have to endure a hangover.

The person who impulsively buys something that they cannot afford today is the same person who will eventually stress over their finances.

The person who shies away from what’s important to them today is the same person who will eventually experience regret.

As you’re making decisions about what to do, it’s perfectly reasonable to want to consider your future self because you will want to be happy and well-taken care of in the future just as much as you want to be happy and well-taken care of in this very moment.

Was thinking about this while driving to the
coworking space
today.

Wondered... do the people who struggle with doing/thinking/living long-term simply have a deficit of 'good things' that past versions of themselves did for them?

Thus they've never been touched by this time-scale transcending kindness and are thus unskilled at performing it.
