Zoom-Zoom Championship - Round 3

The weather was superb today for the third round of the Zoom-Zoom Championship. For this round, the racers ventured to the track out the back of the Wondoga TAFE Motorsport Complex.

The club does not usually race at this track, but its Motorsport Captain thought it might be good to run a club-only event this year. The benefit of using the TAFE track in Wodonga is that it is cheap. It keeps the cost down, especially when only twenty-three cars are entered for the day.

Though I have driven on this track early previously, it took me a few laps to settle back into my lines around the corners, as well as selecting the correct gear. This track is short, but it is challenging, with tight sweeping corners. Also, with a lap time of around one minute, you get a few chances to rectify an error on a lap. So, if you get a corner wrong, it can ruin the whole lap.

You often have to change up a gear on a track like this as you come out of a corner. Later in the day, I stayed in a higher gear through some of these corners, which reduced the gear changes, and made for a smoother lap. This small change helped me improve my lap times. Unfortunately, I didn't get a personal best lap time today.
