Untitled Shared at Mar 23, 2022 milk homeless cereal

As a kid, a box of
cereal
felt so large. Like each box could last months. When I'd see my mom open her wallet to pay for groceries I'd see multiple 20 dollar bills and think she was mean for not buying me the toys I begged for. There was always some new toy I wanted, no matter the season.

These days I know one can't live off a single box of cereal for a month. Back then I really did believe you could feed a person -- albeit a kid -- with a three dollar box of cereal and a gallon jug of
milk
. It's nowadays that all the other meals that my mom cooked for throughout the years come back to hit me.

I like to pretend that I don't have time to cook, but that would be a lie. I've been unemployed for about two years now. It's just that I don't like to cook. The only time I'll do it is when I have people over. My friends will be actually impressed to know that I never cook for myself though.

When I do have guests over, I always cook a few extra portions. The day after I'll take them to the Victoria Park and hand it out to a
homeless
person.
