It amazes me how much music artists create. When I was younger my favorite band is the Avett Brothers. Their album Emotionalism was amazing. Energetic, but weirdly old. With big raspy vocals, banjo playing, and moments of honest emotion. This album was sandwiched between two amazing EPs called The Gleams. But this period and even their earlier rougher stuff I loved. Listened to repeatedly, and learned how to play. Their later albums I didn't like so much. I don't know if it was the content, they themselves turned into Dads and had families, and it missed that younger energy.
Despite all these albums, Seth one of the brothers released his own albums under his own name. They much less produced, probably using a single mic on some of the albums. They were also much darker, but very honest.
Now I recently stumbled upon his youtube channel, where he covers other songs, and honestly they are all great. Like this one of Mac Miller's Circles.
Whats weird though, is these covers were done later, when my interest in their music subsided and I think they are falling for the usual trend of bands. Doing similar music but louder. These covers though still have a sound similar to this era in the past. Its weird the stuff they choose to put on the albums lose this a bit. Or maybe they're just making them for a bigger audience at that point.
