Health patterns

Ever since I started using a Dexcom, I have had more control over what I should eat and how best to control my sugars. Before the Dexcom, the only way to check for sugars is through a finger prink a few times a day. Dexcom provides what the sugars are for every 5 minutes - 24 hours a day.

I like the option of continuously monitoring certain markers like sugar, temperature, BP, resting heart rate etc to get a more wholistic view of health. I use my Dexcom, my Oura ring, my FitBit to get a lot of information about my health. I have met many people that have told me that it is all too much. Maybe not knowing some things would be good for my stress levels. But I disagree. Especially with health, addressing things early makes all the difference.

The more I read about health, I have also come to understand that the human body is sophisticated and observing patterns is the best way to see any problems. Whenever I get any bloodwork done, I always ask for a printout or log in to my labcorp account to look at each items. Most doctors don't address everything and don't expect any questions from patients. Since it has been a while since I lost my confidence in doctors, I always study my results and always compare the last 3 previous result to see any patterns. I don't expect my doctors to do any of that so it is on me to be my own health advocate.

I think gadgets like Dexcom, Oura ring and fitbit can generate a much better summary of health over a physical. I believe the future of healthcare is going to be gadget like this, genetics along with analytics to get a more personalized care.

I don't think it's too much. Wearing the CGM again, it is definitely good data to have and it affects my behavior. Genetic information I think we are a ways out from detail that is actionable.

True - but there is so much exciting news in the stem cell research. I am hoping things will happen sooner than later.
