I was introduced to Kaiser when my employer a few years ago decided to provide that option in the healthcare plan. At first it sounded very reasonable and I was considering moving over. Then I heard that you can't get to choose your doctor. You have to go with the provider that Kaiser has.
With all the specialists that I have to see, and with how picky I am about who is my doctor, that requirement caused me to abandon Kaiser immediately.
But now, my mom has Kaiser. And I got to see a little more about how they operate. They are more organized than most doctor's offices I have been to. There is almost never any line whenever my mom goes to her appointments. They have a few 24-7 labs for things you need. And the providers seem more patient to me than my own experience.
I still don't plan to switch my plans but it is good to see something that works well in healthcare for once.
