Standing at 6’5” and 240 lbs Johnny Timberland is the backup small forward for the Boston Celtics. Although not one of the Celtics top prospects, Johnny Timberland is an intriguing player nonetheless on this playoff bound team. This season, his 4th out of Wisconsin, Timberland has averaged 15 mins, 6.9 pts, 4.7 rebs, 1 blk and nearly 4 fouls per game. Timberland does 2 things at an above average rate. He plays defense and he shoots corner threes, but what really sets him apart out there on the court is his hustle. Johnny Timberland usually enters the game with about 5 minutes left in the first half and boy does he leave he an impression. With his long dreads trailing his thickset body, Timberland is a bulldog out there scuffling and charging all over the court, leading to his nickname “Johnny Rocket”. If you look closely one can see a hand painting of rocket bursting into a cloverleaf on his shoes in addition to all the non-profit organizations he is associated with. If you have attended a Celtics home game this season you have probably heard the Johnny Rocket chant. With half the stadium chanting “JAAHH”, the other half chanting “NEEEE” and then the same For “RAAHH” and “KETT”
Last week Timberland was involved in an altercation with 18 time all star and future hall of famer Lebron James which led to the stars first career ejection. Usually young players have the upmost respect for James and most wish nothing more than to exchange jerseys and pose with him after the game. But not Johnny Timberland. With the 4th quarter winding down and the Celtics trailing by 10, James and Timberland both went up for a rebound off a missed free throw and James’s elbow banged the side of Timberland's face drawing an obscene amount of blood. James shrugged it off even acting surprised he was called for the foul. Timberland, however, was not pleased as he started yelling and waving his arms at James beckoning him to a fight as the whole crowd began chanting “Johnny Rocket”. Timberland even had to be restrained by the entire Celtics staff and some players as he kept evading them and trying to fight James after they had both been ejected. Eventually Timberland charged into the tunnel, blood stains all over his jersey, with the hopes of meeting with James back there, But Celtics security were there waiting for him and later escorted him from the facilities. Timberland would be suspended for 10 games after the incident while James would receive a 10 thousand dollar fine. The next day Johnny Timberland Posted the following to his Twitter Account: I am extremely sorry and regretful for my unacceptable actions during last night's game. Anyone who knows me knows that that’s not what I’m all about. During my suspension I plan on undergoing therapy and returning home to spend some time with my family. And then I will return stronger than ever! During his postgame interview, James denied any wrongdoing and was in disbelief to what spurred Timberland's unacceptable reaction. “Well it was a routine loose ball foul. We both went up for the rebound and I guess I inadvertently grazed his cheek. He (Timberland) evidently took issue with that. Well.. Ya’ll saw what happened…” James said with a sly smile.
