He liked the . Without it he would feel miserable everyday at lunch, sitting in an echo chamber of juvenile screaming.
Instead he got to play chess or surf the net while eating the sandwich his mom had packed. It was always the same. White turkey and yellow cheddar between Auntie MIllie's whole grain bread. She always put the mayo on the bottom bread first. Then the cheese on top of that. And then the turkey. The green veggies came in its own separate plastic baggie so that the top of the wouldn't go soggy.
He hung out with a chubby boy with glasses at the library who was good at first person shooters. This friend got hot lunch from the cafeteria but because of lactose intolerance would give his to him. That was one of the things he looked forward to everyday. That sweet, rich chocolate milk.
The two of them were nerds. Not even the smart kind. Slower and weaker than the jocks, but dumber than them as well. Basically they had nothing going for them. He knew this and it bugged him. It didn't seem to bug his friend though... the gamer. Maybe it was because his chubbier friend had been a big loser his entire life and had accepted it. But he... he wasn't ready to accept it.
"I'll be right back. Going to go for a drink."

The chubby boy went to get a sip from the drinking fountain. There was something different about the air. The people were not in the right places. In fact there were nobody around.... except he could hear the sound of people gathering.
And that's when he squinted through his spectacles, down at the lower part of the library... where they would often host events. And he saw a very large man down there with dreadlocks, smiling and nodding as all the kids and even librarians crowded over him.
"Well thank you for coming again, Mr. Timberland."
"No problem. I'll see you around." he smiled and shot everybody surrounding him a click of the teeth and a finger. Then he stepped quickly out of the lower part of the library and came to the level where the chubby boy was standing. And suddenly the tall man seemed extremely tall. Like a giant. Not just tall but wide.
"Oh hey little man. How you doing?"
"Not so bad. How about yourself, sir?"
"I've been better."
"Mmm."
"Well have a good one."
The man began walking away. But then he turned around and opened up the coat he was wearing and took out a jersey.
"Here you go, big man." he said. By the time the giant man was gone, he looked down and noticed that the jersey was covered in .
