I am proud to say that I have never seen a Star Wars movie. I know it has been one of the most famous movie franchises in the past 45 years, but I have never been interested or tempted to see any Star Wars movie.
So many of the characters and references are prevalent in our culture and instantly come to mind. For example, who doesn't know the characters Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Hans Solo, or Chewbacca, and that Darth Vader is Luke's father?
I have nothing to add to any conversation that includes a Star Wars movie. More than not, I try to steer the conversation away to some other movie topic that I am more familiar with, like a Quentin Tarantino film. I am sure I'm not alone here. There must be plenty of people like me who haven't seen any Star Wars movies.
For me, it's a badge of honour. After nine movies, I take pride in resisting the relentless marketing of yet another Star Wars movie. So, may the force be with you because it is certainly not with me.
