Wisconsin Man Celebrates Eating Big Macs Every Day for 50 Years Straight

The headline for this story got my attention.

Now look, I'm not a stranger to McDonald's even in the present day. I still have a vivid memory of tasting my first chicken McNugget when I was a kid. I'll still have a sausage egg McMuffin once in a while. I've never had a Big Mac (called Le Big Mac in Paris according to Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction). If I'm going to get a fast-food burger, it won't be from Mcdonald's or Burger King. I guess I'm the complete opposite of Don Gorske.

Don Gorske has just completed a 50-year streak of eating a Big Mac nearly every day of his life. He's only missed 8 days over 18,250 days. He offers proof in the form of saved cartons, receipts for each purchase, and a running count on a calendar. In 2016, Don was awarded the Guinness World Record for the most McDonald's Big Macs eaten with a total of 28,788.

The obsession began on May 17, 1972, when Don got his first car and drove straight to McDonald's to order three Big Macs. If that sounds excessive, he was eating as many as nine a day during this period. Currently, he's good for two Big Macs a day, and he usually holds the fries.

Nutrition stats for two Big Macs:
Calories:1100
Saturated Fat: 22g
Total Fat: 60g
Total Carbs: 90g
Protein: 50g
Sodium: 2020mg

According to Don's wife, his health is somehow pretty good. He is not diabetic, and his cholesterol levels are apparently very good. He does not appear to be morbidly obese.

Don is certainly a member of #Teamstreak.

Wow. Some people have good genetics.
