decide and act quickly

It’s good to be back. I’ve had a lot of time to reflect this last month, and will be making some decisions about what and where my content will be moving forward. Updates coming soon.

In the meantime, here is today’s Daily Spark on June 15th — as promised.

It’s hard to know if you’re making the best possible choice.

We don’t make decisions on the basis of absolute certainty but rather on the basis of what feels right to us at the time.

As for the counterfactual, it’s often hard to know or say much. What if we’d done this instead of that? Would things have been better or worse?

We don’t really know.

Deliberation can be helpful but at some point (soon), you will be better served by making a choice

At best, you like where your decision leads.

At worst — but still very good — you don’t like where your decision leads but you gain wisdom and move forward in a different direction.

Thinking about what you’ll do affords you neither of these beneficial outcomes.

Resolve to deliberate, decide, and act quickly — you will likely fail more often than you ever have, but those failures will be offset by the wisdom, rapid adjustments, and inevitably progress you make along the way.

We grow by doing, not by thinking about doing.

probably not as the 'daily spark' for much longer.

committing to writing daily is a great forcing function that keeps me creating, but i'm working on finding a corner (or corners) of the internet where i can create whatever i want in whatever form i want.

linkedin is where everyhting started, and it's been cool. but can be very elitist esp. around what is sufficiently 'professional' vs too personal.
