There has been a meme floating around for a while where someone says they were "today year's old" when they realized XYZ. The idea is that they are just now finding out about something as an adult that they did not know for their duration of their lives up to that point.
When I see these memes, I usually know whatever is being revealed. Examples:
When I see these memes, I usually know whatever is being revealed. Examples:
- I was today year's old when I figured out that the Amazon logo has an arrow pointing from A to Z to indicate that they sell everything from A to Z.
- I was today year's old when I found out the phrase is "open says me" and not "open sesame."
- I was today year's old when I discovered an iPhone user can text another iPhone user "pew pew" and it will send lasers.
I am rarely surprised by these memes, but a recent one "got" me. I saw a video on Tik Tok of a woman putting a new trash bag in the garbage bin. The typical way I've done it, everyone in my family has done it, and probably you and everyone you know have done it is to spread open the bag and whip it up and down a few times to let the air open it up and then put it in the trash bin. The revelation in this video is that there is another method. You simply pull the bag open and slide it over the trash bin like a hat. Then you push it down into the can.
If you pull a new trash bag out of the box and examine it closely, you will see it's actually inside out as evidenced by the seams. If you use the traditional method, the seams will be on the outside, but if you slide the bag over the bin and push it down, the seams will be on the inside.
You're never too old to learn something new.
Thanks
