do cool shit

On my way to meet some friends at a bar in San Francisco about 5 years ago, I saw this neon sign hanging at a nearby storefront that said: “do cool shit”.

“Oh, how befitting”, I thought. After all, I was in the land of high technology and cutting-edge innovation (at least for some period of time).

I also remember interpreting the delightfully simple, three-word declaration as a reminder that we don’t need some grandiose, world-changing, life-changing vision to justify our interests.

Sometimes we just want to do something in life because we think it’s cool.

If it becomes something more than what we envisioned, then maybe that could be great. But to spend any substantial amount of your life wondering what something might become instead of just doing it seems silly.

The history of
San Francisco
is interesting because before the tech... it was always about being weird and doing cool shit.

it just happened that one day tech became that.

now of course tech is more blue chip and less cool shit lol.

> we don’t need some grandiose, world-changing, life-changing vision to justify our interests.

I've come to live more closely to that
Navalism
that life is a single player game. That there is no 'world' but rather worlds that are inhabited within each mind of each person.

So in such case... our interests is world changing!
