Cross border payment

There's a reason why fintech is hot worldwide. Cross-border payment is still broken.

All Nigerian cards that used to work for my Spotify payment stopped working. I've been without Spotify or Apple Music for months now.

In fact, my Digital Ocean account is now suspended because all the cards I have won't work and digital ocean themselves can't help me.

For whatever reason, my Barter virtual dollar card works on Google. Yesterday I gave in to Google's frequent offer of one month's free trial of YouTube Premium and my card wasn't rejected. I still get awed each time I click on a youtube video and I don't see ads. I've downloaded YouTube music, whose subscription is bundled with YouTube Premium and I think I'm enjoying it so far.

Spotify lost me, because of payment. Google got me.

What's the ostensible reason for the Nigerian cards not working? Is it that pesky Nigerian prince who sends random emails? Is the problem restricted to just Nigeria or Africa in general?

It's majorly Nigeria to be honest.

We have irresponsible leaders and Central Bank. Plus too much fraud issues coming out of the country.

It's sad.
