A Walk

It wasn't supposed to be like that. I was just out for a walk. I was sweating still and my hand hurt. Knuckles bruised and covered in blood. Mine or his Im not sure. I was just having a bad day. And it was hot. My breathing was still fast. No one saw anything. He came out of no where, with that light on his head, I thought he wanted more than just to make a call. There was a car though, I let cross the street, right before I saw him. I was wearing white. Shit what if theres blood on that. I walked up the other side of the neighborhood. Small dogs yipped and barked. One of those motion lights scared me. I was just walking, and this man came up to me, his light in my eyes and something in his hand. I know now it was just a water bottle but then. I was stuck. I didn't think that would kill him. How do we know he's dead though. I checked the pulse. Did I? Like the stove I've left on how many times. I had to go back, but he was right on the sidewalk under that lamp, right at the corner of Sunnydrive, and windmill. Fuck fuck fuck. I have to check though, in case he's alive.

When I got back to the corner I came from the other way, down the hill in the shadows, so if you were at that corner you couldn't see me. But he wasn't there. Now the corner was empty.
