"plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose" - Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr (1849)
"It means nothing really changes. Ever. And the more the outwards appearance of things appear to change, the real essence of the things stay the same."
I think about that quotable quote a lot.
We live in an age where things change fast, so it's easy to think everything is changing. But it's not. The more things change the more things remain the same. The fundamental principles don't change. And if the fundamental principles don't change then nothing really changes.
Fashion changes
Technology changes
Media evolves
Cultures changes (or let's say it merry-go-rounds)
etc
But, the basic principles of life that sustain all of the above and more remain the same.
