One impoverished meal

as reply to Beers & Business Doodles

I'm sorry, Sal.

It's okay.

The doctor touched Sal's shoulder through the barrier of protective gloves. Sal didn't look at the doctor's worried face through the N-95 mask covering his mouth. A nurse came through the door also wearing aa mask and informed the doctor that he had to go see another patient.

It's okay doctor. You go on with your job. I understand.

The nurse gave both of them a face of despair. Sal could see it even through the mask. After the two left Sal sat there shoulder slouched. He didn't know what to do next. He kind of just wanted to sit there and moap. But he knew the room needed to be used by other patients as well. He didn't have much time.

The door opened. He thought he would have more time than this. He got his things and prepared to get up.

I'm sorry, Mr. Hernandez. Were there any other questions you had?

No. Thank you for your concerns. I'm fine.

Will you be okay? I mean you will need to quarantine for at least 14 days.

I think I'll be fine. I don't make much as a bartender... but today some nice silicon valley looking chap gave me a $2.50 tip. Looked like he was working on one of them billion dollar ideas. I wish I had some of that. But I guess 2.50 is enough for a meal. I got him to thank for that.

The nurse frowned while trying to smile. And then before she could fix it Sal got up and was out of the room.

Joe was smiling. He had just smashed the pitch on Zoom. A panel of smiling faces were congratulating him.

Good job, Joe! You are going to change the world! This is just what the people need!
