Texas. Power. Nigeria 2021-02-17 20:12:15

I ranted a couple of days back about how I've not had power supply since Saturday.

Texas is also in the news for low power supply. Theirs is worse, my heart goes out to every Texan out there. The little have read about it seems like the major reason it's this worse is because Texas doesn't share her grid with other states thus she can't import power.

I don't know how true that is, but most times power issues are usually a governmental failure.

Nigeria is worse since we regained democracy in 1999 the govt have spent over $11 billion on power. Yet, power is still horrible. The reason for blackout in my area is due to the fact our transformer got spoilt and it has to be replaced. Depending on how influential our community leaders are it could take weeks or months to get it replaced.

Power outages are horrible, it's something you can never really get used to. In my years, I've never had uninterrupted power supply for a week straight. Yet, when power is gone, we are comforted by the fact that sooner or later, same day or next it will be restored for a couple of hours.

My heart goes out to Texans, I hope power is restored soon.

I'm also adjusting until our transformer is replaced. Nine hours of power supply per day is better than nothing.

You sharing this kind of stuff really puts things into perspective. always hearing about you speaking on startups and tech i forget about the backdrop your in. Maybe that's why i'm always asking for more Lagos and Nigeria based stories from you.

Seun, I agree. What you think of as real life -- are "stories" that we'd love to read about.

BTW I just wanted to double agree with Brian and also express my gratitude that you spent some of your limited electricity & energy sharing your story here with us.

Haha.. should realized -- "Sending you positive energy" -- probably means something totally different in Lagos, Nigeria than it does in Northern California. ;-)

I think you should start a comic strip... LOL

Thank you guys.

To be honest, I deliberately do not write or think too much about Nigeria. Most of the stories are depressing and I'm not sure that's good vibes.

Once in a while, I'll be dropping stories about Nigeria from my perspective.
