outdated suffering

as reply to Allison

Did anyone ever choose to die? Even people who... even people like Jesse. Was it right to say that they had a choice? If someone were to do what they did, didn't that mean they were
suffering
so much that they in fact had no choice?

Allison thought of this while cleaning out the rest of the fridge. Will had offered to help her clean The Carter House. Offered multiple times. Not like he was being pushy. He seemed genuinely wanting to help. He had his connections to this place as well.  Maybe he missed the Carter House as well.

Why did she still call it that? It was her house now. No need to use that old high school name. So many names were created back then. Inside jokes. Nicknames. Now they were outdated. At a certain point calling an old friend by a nickname no longer rung right. It sounded wrong leaving her tongue, and it felt wrong throwing it onto somebody else.

Had things really changed that much? She looked around the kitchen. Still so much cleaning required. She wondered whether Will would offer his help once again. If he did, then she would accept. Strangely, Will seemed to have a lot of time on his hands. She had not asked him about his work. But for all she could tell, Will wasn't doing anything with his days at all. What was he up to? Why was he back in town?
