I bought a new journal today. I've tried many different guided and prompt driven journals for habit tracking, goal setting, vision casting, and on and on. None of them work for me. I prefer blank journals.
There's something special about getting a fresh journal with the crisp paper, and blank pages waiting to be filled. I enjoy the physical act of writing pen to paper, and getting away from typing on a keyboard or phone as a change of pace.
I don't use journals to write daily entries. I use them more for passing thoughts, ideas and inspirations that surface throughout the day. After filling a journal, it's interesting to go back and find the thoughts about different ideas or projects I had in the past. I do flip through the pages to see what old inspiration still strikes me, or what thought processes have changed.
My wife made fun of me for buying "another" journal. I do have quite a collection, but hey, she buys earrings and I buy journals. Time to write!
