What a crybaby Gene thought. She had been planning these 

support group

for a long time now. And knew what worked. In the past she had been 

idealistic

She thought everybody could find common ground no matter how different they were. She'd stick a bunch of different people in the room, different colors. blue men. yellow women. purple 

transgender

men and women. But the people always got into arguments.

Gene realized that she needed to find something that unified the group. They all had to have at least one thing shared. Something they liked sharing. Favorite food was one of them. But people always got distracted thinking about food and growing hungry.

What Gene found worked best after years of running this support group was that 

shoe size

 was the best shared attribute to use. People loved having the same shoe size. On this particular day and time everybody wore a size 13 or 13 and a half.
