Demoralized Pixar employees?

The pandemic has disrupted movie distribution. With theaters being closed or limited capacity, movie studios have turned to premieres on streaming services.

Pixar's latest release Luca is being released straight to Disney+ just like the movie Soul last year. I'm sure most families with kiddies have Disney+ to keep the kiddies occupied, so they will be the first to see this new Pixar movie. According to this article, Pixar employees are "demoralized" that millions of families are going to be viewing the movie on Disney+ as part of the normal streaming subscription.

Forget theaters, we are not even good enough for an upcharge? - some disgrunted Pixar employee

What's this about an upcharge? I didn't even know Disney+ had something called Premier Access, which requires a fee beyond the monthly subscription fee for "premium" movies. Some movie called Mulan was the first to take advantage of Premier Access with people paying $29.99 just to watch the movie when it was first released. I'm not a fan of this pricing model. You are already getting the monthly subscription fee. What's this extra charge?

Pixar has created many beloved movie franchises such as Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles. The 2020 movie Soul won several awards including the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film. It was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and we'll see if it wins in April.

So let's review. Pixar employees literally have dream jobs for creative people by making animated films. Pixar movies have brought in billions at the box office and through DVDs and merchandising. These movies have countless awards and have been seen by millions of people. What exactly are the employees demoralized about?
They probably miss that direct attachment between number (box-office) and their work. Kind of like how people like streaks lol
