an empty bed at church church Advance Auto Parts liquor store

John Meecham was okay with his town having no opportunities beyond the world of becoming an auto mechanic, working at a chain, or being a religious man. Meecham knew nothing else. He chose to become a man of christ.

He choose christ not because he loved God, but because he found the religious path the most interesting. Nobody in his family enjoyed working in a garage. And nobody he knew liked working hourly jobs at stores such as
Advance Auto Parts
or behind the counter at a
liquor store
. Religion, although it had its drawbacks seemed the most inspiring. There were enough people who worked in churches and went to churches who seemed happy to be there. If not happy... at least moved.

Meecham was being trained at the
church
. As part of his training they had him volunteer at the local hotels. He was supposed to act as a gateway for addicts and prostitutes to find their way back to God. He hadn't converted anyone yet however. Instead he had been converted and now was smoking cigarettes. He even almost hooked up with a prostitute.

This one night though he ran into a man who was looking to be driving the car while asleep. He said "hey what's up man?"

The man had no answer. Was just wanting to crash at a decent place. Meecham told him that he could stay at the church if he wanted. They had a few rooms there. They weren't vacant for random guests for money. instead they were there for emergencies. Meecham figured, this was an emergency. Why not. Stranger falling asleep at the wheel? Maybe the man was down on his luck. Couldn't afford a hotel room.

Plus nobody was sleeping at the church tonight anyways. Why let an empty bed go to waste.
