She Was Gas City

as reply to marianna at airport

Marianna’s flight wasn’t so long. People all over the world flew much longer, taking a whole day just to get somewhere else. Burning barrels of gas to get somewhere else. Marianna’s flight was three hours, which is reasonable, she paid a reasonable price too, but to her it felt like forever. She got a window seat, which she never gets, its too expensive to pay extra for that.

She felt strange for a number of reasons, that city she was in was strange. Until then she had lived in well planned cities. Centered around people, or space city. But that city with all the cars and all the noise was strange to her it was strange to her people lived like that.

Now on the plane she felt alienated, different than the other people. She pitied them, she wondered though if they pitied her. She was amazed that the same two worlds created her life and people who lived there. Not that
Gas City
  was any better.

She was also the only one on her row, the plane wasn’t that full, but part of her was looking forward to the company. That surprised her about herself. Lately she has been surprised with herself, her thoughts, and who she was.
