When the dot stopped moving closer to him, Alan felt relieved. He would have more time to himself.

But then an hour or so passed. And the dot stayed the same. He got worried. Began looking up where she was. And it was just the middle of the road.

He suddenly felt godly
fear
. Imagined the worst.

There was nothing on the news. There was no longer a singular source for news these days. Everybody looked on their own places online. He looked on all his places. But nothing regarding what might've happened to Imogen. Her dot wasn't moving. But her phone was still alive.

He wanted to call someone. What would he say? He texted Aaron and Jack in the group chat.

"Imogen was supposed to be home two hours ago. Her location hasn't moved. I'm worried..."

Right away a call came from Aaron. He was the kind of guy who liked to act like intimacy was out of his sensibilities, but when life threw a real curve ball at Alan, Aaron was often there to help.

Alan picked up.

"Hey, man." the voice from New York said.
