An Ice Cream Westcity

The water crashed and swelled in front of her. It smelt like the ocean on the other side she thought. It surprised her how big the waves were. How much the sound surrounded her.

There was chaos but predictability. She just had her feet in the water. She liked how it felt pushing and pulling her. Down the beach there was a man with a dog throwing a stick and the dog bounded in and out bringing it back again.

It was hotter than

, but a breeze. She liked that. The sun warmed her face, and the water went up and then down.

The gas stations and driving kept her occupied for so long she forgot about everything else. Why she came. Why does anyone go west?

The heat reminded her of a family vacation. She was in the back seat hot. The window she had there didn’t fully open so it couldn’t save her from the heat. Then her dad pulled into a McDonalds and order an ice cream. It was plain but it saved her life she thought.

That’s what she needed now. An ice cream.
