Dave waited until nightfall he assumed, most of the people unless they had special forces training would leave before then. Or he'd be able to see them with their big flash lights.

At a break he bolted diving into the highway divider a sort of drainage area created. No one saw him he thought the cars kept their same speed. The other side would be a bit harder, a small fence was in the way as well.
He looked around, he had to be about a half mile now from his apartment. Then the thought hit him, what if thats been found out. What if there waiting there. That idea scared him, tire him out with the walk and then, bam, you got him hand delivered.
He cut across the next road trying to sneak around the back, maybe he could out flank them. Who were they? He had no idea.
