Think Again

I am reading a third book by Adam Grant.
The latest one called 'Think Again' is interesting so far. It is coming in my life at the right time.

Due to different things that happened with my health, I have noticed a change in my personality. I find that I am more obsessives compulsive, I tend to worry more and have some level of constant fear merged with an unhealthy amount of stubbornness. That isn't a good combination of traits and I am not certain what the cause of the changes are.

Listening to 'Think Again' was refreshing. It talks about how to have a constructive discussion and debate with people having opposing views. It talks about something called motivational interviewing. Its a way of talking to someone so that they feel heard and open up. I am sure therapist use it all the time but it is something we could all use in order to have good communication and develop empathy.

I am only halfway through the book but it sound like there are lots of gems in there. I will share as I continue to listen.
Whenever I'm able to -- in a good enough mood -- I prefer talking to people as though I'm their therapist. They open up more and when you make them feel understood they magically begin to understand you more.

When neither side is trying to understand because they are fixated on being understood, little of any of that happens.

This book sounds like a good candidate for the upcoming book darts functionality.

Yes Sir Abe, I noticed that skillset you have with talking to people. I actually remembered how you would ask question as I was listening to the book. It is a very valuable skill that improves your communication and relationships.
